Robert Smith was a seven year veteran of the Bridgeton Police Department when he was arrested for allegedly selling steroids to another officer. Smith was found not guilty after an eight day jury trial, and now our office has filed a lawsuit against the Department for malicious prosecution and defamation.
The lawsuit alleges that the Department and its present and former police chiefs conspired to bring the criminal charges against Smith in retaliation for towing a councilman’s car just weeks prior to Smith’s arrest. In addition,
