In our whistleblower case against the NJ Department of Corrections (“DOC”) the Camden County jury unanimously found that the DOC unlawfully retaliated against the plaintiff – our client, Meg Yatauro – and demoted her. The jury also found 7-1 that DOC Commissioner Gary Lanigan was part of the retaliation and returned a verdict against him.
The jury unanimously awarded Ms. Yatauro over $1,000,000 for her lost wages and emotional distress plus attorney’s fees and costs to be determined. The trial began on September 11, 2017, the jury heard testimony from twenty-seven witnesses over the course of four weeks, and the verdict came in on October 6, 2017. Heidi Weintraub was lead trial counsel on the case with Erica Domingo serving as second chair.
